In the academic year 1988-1989 the Consortium for the University of Foggia organised some “seminars” given by professors of the Faculty of Economics of Bari. This was followed the next year with other “seminars” given by the Faculty of Law and in the academic year 1991-1992 by those of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. The first official academic year was celebrated in 1990-1991 at the University Polo of Foggia and celebrated on the 12th January 1991 in the presence of the Minster for Universities and Scientific Research and Technology, of the Honourable Chancellor, the Academic Senate of the University of Bari along with other officials, professors and students. Since the 1990-1991 academic year the University of Foggia has activated official university courses in the following faculties; Economics, Law and Agriculture (with a university course in Science and Food technology) twinned with the relative faculties of Bari. Starting from 1st November 1994 the faculty of Agriculture and Economics became didactically autonomous and the same for the faculties of Law and Letters and Philosophy in 1996/97 and 1999-2000. finally with the Decree of 5th August 199, the Ministry of University and Scientific Research and Technology instituted the Università di Foggia which currently has the following faculties; Agriculture, Economics, Law, Medicine and Surgery and Letters and Philosophy.
