A file is any arbitrary file that can be uploaded from your hard drive. To add a file, select File from the drop-down list. On the edit tab, you’ll see an Upload button that lets you pick the file from your hard drive. This could be any sort of item, including a plain-text file, a Microsoft Word document, a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, an executable program, an Adobe Acrobat document, and so on. When you add a file, the name of the item in Plone changes to the name of the file uploaded. So, if you upload a file called *book.pdf, it’ll be accessible in Plone as book.pdf.
